Mother's Day Part 4
Last weekend Forrest went fishing south of New Orleans with Mark, Russ, and Phillip. They had a wonderful time and brought back lots of fish. The four fishermen and their families, along with a couple other families, all got together at the McMillan's house this afternoon for a fish fry. The real highlight though was the kiddie pool. I took swimsuits for the kids but only Carter got in. It wasn't a real hot day today and the water was cool. Carter seemed very cold when he first got in but he didn't fuss at all. He ended up swimming for about 15 minutes and he splashed and splashed and splashed. It was a swimming success! Forrest and I thought it might just be a little too cold for Olivia (I know, we baby her). Next time though she'll be in the water with her brother.
Mother's Day Part 3
The twins nap schedule was completely uncoordinated today. Since Olivia had a late morning nap, she was not ready to sleep when we got home from church, but Carter could hardly keep his eyes open. So, after lunch Carter went straight to bed (!) and Olivia and I hung out for a while. Then right as I started thinking about putting Olivia to bed, Carter woke up. Sheesh. Anyways, these pics are from this afternoon.
Mother's Day Part 2
These next pics were taken at the nursery. Our family had to split up for church today because Olivia took forever to go down for her morning nap. She finally fell asleep about 20 minutes before we had to go to church and I just couldn't bear to wake her. So, Forrest stayed home with her so that she could nap then they met us at church later.
I dropped Carter off at the nursery and decided to snap some pics while we were there.
They were short staffed today so they combined the two nurseries, which is why there are some older kids in there. Aren't their friends adorable?

Mother's Day Part 1
Forrest got me a new camera! Finally I can do these beautiful babies justice. 99% of the pictures taken of our babies were taken from my iPhone camera. We do have a very good camera, but it's a giant one that won't fit in my purse so it's terribly inconvenient. All I wanted for Mother's Day was a small point and shoot camera - one that took decent pics and could fit in to my purse.
First thing this morning Forrest gave me my gift and it was exactly what I wanted. In fact I took so many pics that I have to divide today's pics in to four parts.
These are the ones I took this morning before church.
Notice my first subject. I just love this little guy:

Camera dump
As we close out April, it's time to do a camera dump. I have lots of pictures on my camera that don't really commemorate any event. They are just pictures that I thought were cute when I took them and I'd hate to just delete them. So, here are the random pics that don't really fit in any other post.

First Fight
Grandmommy gave me this genius little toy made by Baby Einstein. I got it at one of my showers and she assured me that the twins would love it. She was right - it's been a favorite since the start.
Anything that lights up or makes noise is a hit. However, not only does this toy do both of those things, it is also small enough, light enough, and plastic enough to put in their mouths. For anyone doing the math - those things add up to the perfect toy.
The problem is, there's only one of them and it is the favorite of both babies.
The pics below were taken right after their first fight. I didn't know that I'd want to document the event in pictures until after the fight occured (of course) so there aren't any angst pics (and that's just too bad!). But still, it sets the scene.
Carter was dominating the toy. After he played with it for a few minutes, I took it away and gave it to Olivia. Olivia had barely gotten it into her mouth when Carter reached up and pulled it away. Olivia immediately screamed and reached for it, but she couldn't reach. Then she looked at me, as if pleading for me to rectify the situation. I sense this is the first of many fights.
However, when I retold this story to a friend, she declared "If they'll fight WITH each other, they'll fight FOR each other." I hope that's true. :-)

Sunday afternoon walks
It's pretty much part of our Sunday afternoon routine to go to the Longleaf Trace for a walk. This is typically the time of the day that the babies (and parents?) are grouchy and they (and us?) need a change of scenery.
Those last two pics were taken today and it was HOT. Oh wait, today is a Saturday. Sometimes we walk on Saturday and Sunday. :-)
