Headphones

I ordered the twins each a set of headphones for use on the plane ride to and from New England.  I let them each try them out with our laptops tonight.  They loved them!

I'm famous!

A photographer from the Hattiesburg American came to yoga a few weeks ago to take pictures for a story.  It ran in Saturday's paper and included was a picture of me!  Who cares that I was in black and white and buried in Page 7A?  Who cares that they got my name wrong?  Not me!

A laid back weekend

This weekend was a pretty laid back weekend.  The only thing notable was that it was very hot.  Forrest tried to get the yard mowed early on Saturday morning to beat the heat.  Unfortunately, Carter wanted to help which really slowed down the process.

I tried to distract Carter by asking him to help me pick up leaves from the flower beds.  That kept his attention for about 2 minutes.  :-(

That afternoon I took the kids to Sonic and bought them their first ever shakes.  They loved them!  I made them drink them outside since they made such a mess out of them.  I couldn't convince them to keep the cup verticle and not to tip it over.  I guess they'll learn that some other day.

We got some wonderful rain on Sunday afternoon but that didn't dampen Carter's spirits.  What a smile!

LIFT Ministry Kick-Off

Our church is launching a ministry to college aged adults this summer called LIFT.  I'm sure it stands for something, but I don't know what that is.  My good friend Susan is in charge of that ministry and she hosted a pool party at her neighborhood's community pool.  Forrest and I agreed to help as long as we could bring our kids.  I'm pretty sure we were not a very big help, but we had a wonderful time. 

Tie Dye

Last year, Aunt Hillary sent the twins these adorable tie-dyed clothes.  They were too big then but we tried them today and they fit.  They wore them to church and people squealed when they saw them.  They were a hit!

After church, we let the kids run around this tree in the parking lot.  Why?  Because they wanted to.  That's something nice about kids.  They see a random tree and to them, it's a playground.  They are just so cool.

Memorial Weekend - Biloxi

We took a last minute trip to Biloxi for the holiday.  Normally we would go back to Texas for a long weekend, but the drive is getting harder for us and we decided to stay closer to home this time.  It was a nice little beach trip with our little family of four.

 The kids loved our balcony.  I thought it was pretty neat too.  :-)

Low tide was in the evening.  About 25 extra yards of beach emerged during low tides.  You can see a family out on the newly exposed portion of the beach.

On Sunday night, we went to Shaggy's for dinner.  This place was a tourist trap and was right on the beach.  We were told we'd have to wait for 40 minutes.  An hour and 15 minutes later, our table was ready.  The kids were entertained by running around the deck, but by the time we were finally seated, it was already past their bedtime (not to mention their dinner time!) and they were starting to get grouchy.

After the long wait and the fussy children, Forrest and I indulged in some fancy margaritas.

Would you believe that in this tourist trap, the food was excellent?  It absolutely was!  We each got fried shrimp and it was some of the best I've ever had.  I think I'll take my family there.
